This policy applies to purchases made through vehiclebearings.co.uk. It sets out your rights and our obligations under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 (“CCRs”) and the Consumer Rights Act 2015 (“CRA”). Nothing in this policy affects your statutory rights.
This policy applies only to consumers — that is, individuals buying wholly or mainly outside the course of a trade, business, craft or profession. If you are purchasing as a business or trade customer, the statutory cancellation rights described below (Section 1) do not apply to you, and returns/refunds for trade orders are at our sole discretion unless otherwise agreed in writing.
1. Your right to cancel (14-day “cooling-off” period)
If you are a consumer, you have a legal right to cancel your order without giving a reason.
- The cancellation period ends 14 days after the day you (or someone you nominate) receives the goods. Where an order is delivered in multiple parcels/lots, the period runs from receipt of the last item.
- To cancel, you must tell us clearly before the deadline. Email is the fastest and clearest way: [email protected]. Please include your order number. We will acknowledge cancellation notices by email.
- You must then return the goods to us without undue delay, and in any event no later than 14 days after you told us you were cancelling. Goods must be returned to the address we confirm to you when you notify us.
- You are responsible for the cost of returning the goods. We do not offer free returns for change-of-mind cancellations, and we will not arrange or pay for a return courier.
- You are liable for any diminished value of the goods resulting from handling beyond what is necessary to establish the nature, characteristics and functioning of the item — i.e. more than you’d reasonably do to inspect the item in a shop. For precision mechanical parts such as bearings, this includes (without limitation): removing or breaking factory seals or packaging, spinning or rotating the bearing under load, fitting or attempting to fit the bearing to a vehicle or machine, exposure to grease, oil, dirt, water or other contaminants, or any sign of installation or use. Where a bearing shows any such signs, we may deduct up to 100% of its value from your refund, as a bearing in that condition is no longer fit to be resold as new.
- Goods must be returned complete, with all original packaging, accessories and documentation where reasonably possible, as their absence may itself evidence handling beyond inspection and will be reflected in any value deduction.
What we refund
- We will refund the price paid for the returned goods, and the standard delivery cost you paid, but only up to the cost of our cheapest standard delivery option — if you chose a faster or premium delivery service, we will only refund the equivalent of our cheapest option, not the amount you paid for the upgrade.
- We do not refund return postage costs.
- Refunds are issued using the same payment method you used to pay, unless we agree otherwise.
When we refund
- We may withhold the refund until we have received the goods back, or until you have supplied evidence of having sent them back (e.g. a tracked proof of postage), whichever is earlier.
- Once that condition is met, we will process the refund within 14 days.
Items excluded from the right to cancel
Bearings supplied as clearly bespoke, custom-cut, custom-machined, or made to your specific request or specification are not covered by the cancellation right described above, in line with Regulation 28 of the CCRs, as such goods cannot be resold.
2. Faulty, damaged, or mis-described items
Nothing in this policy limits your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015. If an item is faulty, not of satisfactory quality, not fit for purpose, or does not match its description:
- Within 30 days of delivery: you are entitled to a full refund (the “short-term right to reject”).
- After 30 days (up to 6 months): you are entitled to a repair or replacement in the first instance. If that is not possible, is not provided within a reasonable time, or causes significant inconvenience, you may be entitled to a price reduction or to reject the goods for a refund. Within the first six months, it is presumed the fault was present at delivery unless we can show otherwise.
- After 6 months: you may still have rights, but you will need to demonstrate the fault was present at the time of delivery.
To claim under this section, contact us at [email protected] with your order number, a description of the fault, and photos where possible. We may ask you to return the item for inspection before a refund, repair or replacement is issued; where a claim is upheld, we will cover reasonable return postage costs for a faulty item. Faulty item claims made in bad faith, or where inspection shows damage was caused by incorrect fitting, misuse, normal wear and tear, or use outside the bearing’s specification, will be treated as not covered by this section, and Section 1 (change-of-mind) terms will apply instead if still within that window.
3. Order errors
If you receive the wrong item due to our error, notify us within 14 days of delivery and we will arrange a replacement or full refund, including reasonable return postage for the incorrect item, at no cost to you.
4. How to start a return
Email [email protected] with your order number and the reason for return (cancellation, fault, or wrong item). We will confirm the return address and any reference number to include with your parcel. Returns sent without prior notification to us may experience delays in processing.
